About The Event
Farida Sohrabji, PhD, is a Professor of Neuroscience and associate department chair of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Texas A&M College of Medicine. She is the founder and director of the Women's Health in Neuroscience Program at the College of Medicine and a strong advocate for the inclusion of gender/sex differences in biomedical research.
Women’s health is the focus of Dr. Sohrabji's research, and within that very large umbrella, she is trying to understand the health risks that occur after menopause, especially the increased risk of stroke. Research from her lab shows that the aging brain does not respond to stroke in the same way as the younger brain and that drug treatments that work in younger females do not work as well in older females.
